By New Rome, I mean The Western World™ in the early 21st century. However some actual politicians may often be cast as dictators in a falling empire, many contemporary studies have traced parallels between the fates of America and ancient Rome, between the West and the Roman Empire. In the same way life cycles of ferns and daffodils may look similar.
From such premises, one might even say we are actually witnessing a civilizational schism reminiscent of the creation of a two fold Roman Empire. One in the West: America as the New Rome, the other in the East: Europe as the New Constantinople, both being surrounded by actively participating friends and foes, or friends turned foes, or the other way around.
If the weed metaphor holds true, we are actually and collectively in for a very long journey of massive power decay, with chaos across all borders, which might eventually bring some renewal and much hope, following many terrible circumstances for almost anyone and anything on Earth. This is one best case scenario, and no prepper may live to tell about a worst outcome.
Many influential people are actually rallying toward some middle ground ideas, with the faint hope of saving the day. They can't, as they all wear heart shaped rosy glasses, dreaming the dream in surreal contrasts, as high as one can be on synthetic morphine. We need something different. We need people, and we most probably need you. So the question is: what can you do?
For one, you can stop reading and following the news cycle. Not that news people are biased or sold out, as some would have you believe. More because the events they relay and promote are mostly fake. Yes, fake news is a myth, never existed. What's fake is really anything people in power say or do. It always been, that's how they hold their shit together for so long. We believe them, we all do. News people too, they're just always too late to tell about it.
If you want to save anything, what we now need are silent people in power, holding power on their own life. People making hard choices for themselves, without telling others about it, not in a zealous proselytizing way anyway. Many are already, as we are, as we speak. These people, as in we, will change the world. For that, we need you to be the best person, making the grandest choices for oneself as one can be, with the hope others will bear witness and do something similar.
Take power, never upon others, always upon yourself, for yourself and others.
