New Adventures in Materiality

Game Over

What we've been doing for so long doesn't work. At all. The fact that we've been doing it for that long without clear improvement is a clue in itself. We sure all know that by now, as we can't quite convince ourselves of the inevitability of a burst in our so-called social fabric. Of course we've always been, and still are, in denial, as living and breathing creatures. But you know what? Nothing of the sort matters anymore. Because, game over we are, yes.

Maybe you think our society heals itself, from cycle to cycle, from crisis to reform. It really don't. All it does is die, and get replaced, just as we are. The faith we all have in human improvement is nothing but a growing bubble we've all been locked in for too long. The thin membrane which separate our living space from the void is getting so thin, we're that close from seeing it pop, once and for all.

I'm not saying it's too late for healing the Earth, as I'm not announcing the end of times. These things have nothing to do with what's pressing us. What I'm saying is we're running out of opportunities for growing and evolving pass our current state of being. I'm talking about evolution of the self, not about how technologically advanced we appear to be. I'm talking about how the living on Earth is on an evolving course from nothingness to nothingness, about how we are in between, about how we may not be anymore. Because voluntarily blindfolded, we are too.

Because we don't want to know where we're coming from, and we don't care to know where we're going to, stuck in between as we are. Because nothingness as a conversation is probably the most taboo of them all. Because we're sleepwalking, popping pills between naps, then waiting for it all to vanish into... nothingness. But we've got it all wrong. The end of the body was never the end of the self, far from it. But yes, we are still heading right into nothingness.

There you have it. Still unsure about what I'm talking about? Not a problem. Keep at it. Dozing it off until nothingness that is. Still there? Okay. Next post is about much worse than that. Stay tuned.
