New Adventures in Materiality

The Ideology of Conditionality

In human societies, when the need meets an end, it's either conditional or unconditional. Lets clear the way first, and say this: the domain of unconditionality is a very narrow one, mostly limited to some of the rights you were born into, daydreaming, and motherly love, while everything else is always nothing but conditional.

Conditionality does solve a few problems, limiting some dangerous outcomes from happening, like having blind people driving cars, murderers running daycare, bank managers gambling your money, etc. As a barrier to entry, conditionality performs like no other form of discriminating mechanism, guaranteeing only (mostly) people with the right credentials show up at any given place.

The void which exists between conditionality and conformity is where most exploits take place. This is where you'll find those wishing to bypass conditions imposed to others. This is where you'll find most crooks, politics, criminals, celebrities, dictators, magnates, as well as all their merry lawyerly representatives. There are some much better ways to achieve freedom, if only economic one.

The political field has been a symbolic representation of the struggle between conditionality and unconditionality. Legislation is where things that were conditional become unconditional, and the other way around. Which is all fine, as long as you have some form of alternating positions of power. And now we are running in circles, unable to escape. We can do better.

Expressions of conditionality exist because someone, somewhere, thinks not all people should be doing or having whatever they want whenever they're pleased. It's a limiting factor, that was originally meant to avoid (or maintain) scarcity. For conditionality to happen, you need control, security enforcement, and tacit agreement of masses kept in the dark. Chances are, you're kept in the dark, no matter what you think. Try turning tables for a change.

We're so used to conditionality, we can't even imagine it can be easily lifted. We find things to be suspect when they become unconditional. Unconditional expressions may even have the effect of scaring people off. Like, they feel they are stealing or something. Watching people scratching their head in disbelief while being confronted to sudden unconditionality is one of the funniest thing to witness. That's why candid camera shows are so entertaining.

Now, we have to realize that conditionality have many harmful side effects. Perversity for one would never exist in an unconditional setting. And instead of always scheming and stressing and worrying or being shameful, human beings brought up unconditionally would never know sin, which always originate from conditional requirements. Unconditionality is what we all secretly yearn for, because it's the way of the strong, the powerful, and the free.

Because powerful free people tend to make their own rules, create their own conditions, which vary wildly from the conditions they impose to others, or if I dare, the conditionalities we all agree to and accept as heavenly gospel, which is really nothing but horseshit from beginning to end. Then, we all become slave to what we agree to, aren't we? More so if we were led into thinking we had no say in the matter.

Powerful free people cannot be cornered into thinking they should accept less than what they aim for. Then, powerful free people don't do half measure either. For ancient evolutionary purposes, we were conditionally led into scarcity management. Nowadays, in an era where we overshoot our common needs by any order of magnitude, we manage to grow our garbage much bigger than our bellies. And this is no way to evolve, if evolution we do crave for.

Evolved being grow unconditionally, learning to self impose only conditions of their choosing, in accordance to their own needs. This is the way to go. Become free and powerful and sovereign and fulfilled, please, I implore you, before we all finish trashing the place out of existence. If living in this heavenly paradise we call Earth mean anything to you, I implore you, stop the charade, stop taking orders, stop accepting the unacceptable, and brake free of this self imposed shell you shackled yourself in.
